The night air was cool and quiet, the softest of breezes occasionally passing through as if the world was exhaling softly in it's sleep. Everything was calm, disturbances only coming from the occasional startled animal or someone stumbling home in a drunken stupor. Still, even then these little outbursts of sound could hardly do much to disturb the peaceful night. It was like experiencing a new world, seeing everything when most people decided to close their eyes and sleep. And yet it was even stranger for a certain individual tonight.
She didn't know this place, nor did she know about the area around or beyond it. This small town, the land it was located in, even the world, was entirely new to her. She was seeing and experiencing everything here for the first time, learning what to do and how to react much like a child being taught how to walk. Except she'd been thrust into this world with no help or apparent reason, forcing her to learn everything from the ground up on her own. She had no idea if she'd stumbled into a land filled with peace or was struggling with chaos. If there were any political powers at war or perhaps some just being made. What customs were to be respected and take mind of or what to expect as punishment if she somehow insulted anyone by accident. She was, to put it simply, lost in this strange world.
She was an outsider – yet again.
Watching a man teeter rather precariously around a corner, Sheena let out a soft sigh and turned to face the other street. She was alone once more with her thoughts, memorizing the scenery around her while simultaneously trying to come up with a plan of action. In most situations she'd know what to expect or some potentials of what could happen, not to mention the help of her companion's to back her up should need a nudge in the right direction. Unfortunately, Sheena had always been more of a take action sort of person, more often relying on what she could do or think of in the moment than plan ahead. And it was here that she was falling the shortest. What made her even more frantic was that she knew she was alone here, figuratively and literally. She didn't have anyone that she could rely on if need be – not Mizuho, not Lloyd, not even that stupid Chosen. No one.
Some part of her was not entirely unsatisfied with this. The side that always pushed self sufficiency was rather relieved at the idea she wouldn't have the potential of anyone trying to intervene with something that she could deal with on her own. But her reasoning was speaking far louder then her need to show her independence, and while she still felt rather vehement against the idea of asking for assistance, Sheena had the feeling she'd eventually have to ask for some. But not now, she kept telling herself. She was fine right now. Even if she didn't have a place to stay or hardly had anything to eat, she'd manage somehow. She always did.
Her worries were not simply on herself alone at the moment though. No, ever since she'd gotten out of that blizzard her thoughts had zeroed in on the one place she knew she should be right now; Mizuho. Her home, with her people, family and friends. It wasn't that long ago Sheena's grandfather had appointed her as his successor. It was around the same time the villager's had really begun to truly accept her once again. She had journeyed with Lloyd and friends to reunite the worlds, conquering her fear of Summon Spirits along the way. Some still didn't fully accept her presence back in the village, one in particular still gone due to lingering feelings, but she would continue to work hard and prove that she would do everything in her power to keep them safe and eventually make Mizuho a name to be proud of.
That is, of course, if only she wasn't stuck in this world. The time she needed to be home most, to prove that she wasn't the scared, weak girl they had believed her to be, to once and for all have the chance to show them that she was truly sorry for her past mistakes, was being wasted here, away from them. Her trust, a trust she had barely just began to earn back, was probably going to be crushed when they realized she was no longer there. Maybe they'd think she had run away, unable to deal with the expectations of being the next leader of Mizuho. She will have disappointed them all over again, and, worst of all, led her grandfather to probably believe the same thing.
Gripping her arm tightly, clenching her teeth and she squeezed her eyes close, trying to forget the images of her grandfather's disheartened expression. No, she would get back home. She would get back to show them that she wasn't running away, and she wouldn't want to be anywhere else but with them. Leaning against a near by building, Sheena rubbed at her face tiredly, rubbing her temples in an effort to soothe her growing headache. She wasn't going to get anywhere fast by just standing around. Maybe she could camp out in the near by woods tonight, seeing as she had no money to stay at an inn.

❱❱ The dark sky overhead felt familiar, but as he looked up it seemed more distant than it ever had before. This was not his sky. This was not his world. Though they were caught in the same inky web, the stars seemed to have drifted out of place. Their patterns were completely foreign to him. He used to have the entire night sky mapped out in his head, memorized. It made him wonder just how long he would be there, if he would be there long enough to learn all over again. But then what would the point be? What was to keep it from happening all over again? He could find himself on some other world, with another bizarre sky to learn. He was in a rather frustrating situation. Here he was, wandering the streets of some unknown town, on some unknown planet, possibly in some unknown galaxy. It wasn't something he could just shrug off and ignore. He clenched his jaws, grinding his teeth together as he shut his eyes tight, slamming the back of his head into the wall behind him in angrily. Pathetic, slumped against the wall in some dank alleyway. He couldn't bring himself to care though, the fact that it was an alley wasn't what was important here. Opening his eyes he gazed back up at the sky, blowing the stray strands of hair from his vision, frustrated. He had always been praised for his sense of direction, but he had no idea where to go. Deciding sitting around moping about it would get him nowhere, he pushed himself up from the ground, frowning at the feeling of grains of dirt shifting under his palm as he shifted his weight to stand. He picked his hand up from the ground and shook it lightly, brushing his palms together before dusting off his clothes and picking his weapon up from beside him.
❱❱ Thinking back, visiting the library in Kessho hadn't been a complete waste of time. He knew he was not the only one finding himself trapped on a foreign planet, and he had learned quite a bit about the place. There were some similarities between his old home and his new one. If he could even bring himself to consider it that. Mana, and the world tree. But he still hadn't gathered enough information. He needed to learn about the people, the customs... then he could figure out a way to learn how he'd gotten there in the first place. With his naginata resting over his shoulder he draped his arm over its long shaft, fingers dangling limply as his dull eyes peered out of the shadows and out at the streets. He tapped his weapon against his shoulder in thought, his sandals making a slight splash as he took a step forward, not having bothered to avoid the puddle of muddy water in front of him. It really was a small town, to have its alleyways unpaved like this. Reminded him of - he shook his head. It didn't remind him of anything. He wouldn't allow it to. His gaze hardened as he took another step forward, turning slightly to start down the cobblestone path, but something across the road, through the next alleyway, caught his attention. Walking right past him, just one street away, he could swear there was a Mizuho ninja.
❱❱ Minoru sure as hell wasn't about to waste any time getting to her. If she really was from Mizuho, he needed to know. Pulling back into the darkness of the alleyway he put his hand to the brick wall beside him, frowning as its grip on what he assumed would be a rough surface slipped due to some unknown, slick substance. Disgusted he shook his hand vigorously, deciding instead to push off with his feet. The muscles in his legs coiled as he angled his weapon away from himself, launching easily into the air. He turned slightly, kicking off the wall to shoot himself toward the building opposite of it. He had done it so many times it seemed his body acted on its own, already anticipating the next action needed. Pouncing from wall to wall he worked his way up quickly, landing easily on the rooftop. Allowing the edge of his blade to skim against its surface slightly he tilted his head, trying to see beyond the row of buildings, hoping to catch sight of the young ninja again. And sure enough, there she was. He moved quickly to follow after her, balancing himself on the sloped roof as he ran to catch up. He jumped across to the next rooftop, keeping up his pace. With how slow she was moving it didn't take long for him to reach her, however that row of buildings was still in the way. Frowning he took a couple steps back before launching himself at them, landing crouched on the opposite side, steadying himself with his hand to keep from slipping down.
❱❱ Stepping up to stand on top of the building, he heard a soft crack, causing him to look down quickly, blue eyes wide. One of the shingles had broken off under his weight, and now clattered down the angled roof to the ground. The sound caused him to wince as he took another step forward, now distracted by the fact he may have given away his position entirely. And of course, in allowing himself to become distracted, he only made more mistakes. His foot broke even more shingles away, and as they began to fall to the ground he went along with them. The birds on the neighboring roof cried out, taking flight and scattering away. He managed to jump back and regain his footing, cursing under his breath as he watched the shingles hit the ground, eyes quickly turning to meet the girl he had hoped to follow silently. |

Shaking her head slowly, Sheena let a soft sigh escape past her lips. Her headache had eased a little but she could still feel a bit of tension between her brows, as if all her frowning had caused her face to become sore. She could picture Zelos giving her trouble over such a thing, probably to point out that the all the dour expressions she'd been making made her fit all the more to that ridiculous nickname he'd given her. Well, the 'Banshee' one at least. He seemed to christen her with a lot of nicknames, come to think of it. None of which she ever approved of, though. Sheena gave another sigh at the thought, this one more sounding more frustrated than the other. Once she got back to Meltokio she was going to have to fix that...
Still, she couldn't help but soften a little at the memory of a familiar face. Be it the face of her grandpa or Zelos' lecherous mug, it was something that reminded her of home. It was a reminder of the goal she'd set for herself to achieve. To go back to the place where she belonged. To return home. Making a determined fist, she murmured a soft affirmation under her breath, as if to promise the memories of her friends and family she'd make sure to return to them. She didn't let her thoughts linger on them for much longer though. Or, more specifically, she didn't have the luxury to do so. As if a match had been struck, the summoner's senses suddenly prickled in alarm. What the...?
Sheena came a halt, eyes widening as she slowly scanned the surrounding area. It felt as if someone was watching her. The sensation wasn't entirely unusual, seeing as her uncommon appearance often garnered sidelong looks and stares wherever she traveled. But this... this felt like someone who had intent. What type of intent the person held was something she couldn't say for sure, but Sheena wasn't going to just wait around to figure out whatever it was. Luck was, for once, seemingly on her side, as within the next few moments a sharp clatter met her ears a little ways behind her. Head whipping towards the sound, she noticed a small bit of movement out of the corner of her eye. Specks of something – shingles perhaps, judging from the size and sound they made upon impact with the ground. The rooftops, then? Sheena quickly scanned the tops of the near by buildings, trying to pin point any type of movement or unusual shape on the shingled roof's. There had to be something... Wait a- There-!
A bit of movement, hardly worth eye-catching had she not been staring in that general direction. It wasn't much, but she'd definitely seen something. Eyes narrowing, Sheena darted off down the street, turning into the nearest alleyway. Lowering herself slightly mid-sprint, she propelled herself forward with leap, hands raised out to grasp onto the corner of a near by crate. With the same momentum she rolled to a crouch on top of the wooden box before springing forward again, this time towards the near by wall. It was a rather time old method of travel for her, rushing up the walls of buildings to make her get away along the rooftops. Back when she'd used it frequently Corrine had been with her. But, obviously... times had changed.
Landing with a dull 'tup' on top of the roof, Sheena gave her surroundings one more look over, trying to figure out where exactly she'd seen that bit of movement. Without so much as a second thought the summoner rushed towards her destination of sorts, taking care to move discretely but hurriedly. She certainly felt stupid enough for not noticing someone tailing her before, but she wasn't going to let this person slip away from her now that she'd caught them. Almost out of reflex she let a seal materialize in her hand, the slim piece of paper placing a bit more reassurance in the summoner. Sheena grimaced lightly at an upcoming gap between the houses, quickly trying to measure if she had the ability to make such a jump. She didn't have much time to debate on this though, and within seconds she was already sailing through the air, sucking in a quiet breath of anticipation as her feet made contact with the rooftop. The shingles below her feet jingled slightly, causing her weight to shift backwards briefly over the edge. She stood there precariously for a few heart racing seconds, trying to stabilize herself without giving anything away.
Letting out a shaky breath, Sheena steadied herself with a small wave of her hands, swallowing a small lump in the back of her throat before pushing on. Within a few strides she came to another pause, having reached her destination. There, it was a person... her strange follower. Perhaps she should have taken better note before as to where exactly her stalker had been watching her. Sure, rooftops weren't a bad place to keep an eye on people, not to mention if you had the ability you could easily disappear with the right amount of speed and cover. But that was something she'd only come across in her own field, with people from her own village. Could it be there were other people here in this world who had a village or customs similar to Mizuho? The man appeared to be wielding a weapon similar to some she'd seen in the village before as well, but she'd never had the skill to wield such an object. Guards and watchmen more commonly wielded them. So then why...?
Suddenly, Sheena stepped forward to boldly present herself fully towards the stranger, eyes narrowed and gaze hard. Something had clicked in her brain, a sudden feeling of both apprehension and, dare she day it, hope. If... if there was the potential of this person, this man, possibly being from her world, did that mean she wasn't as alone here as she presumed she'd been? If that was the case however, why was he carrying a Mizuho styled weapon? Not just anyone could wield or carry such an object, as they were always careful to keep their talents and resources well hidden from the rest of the world. The only reason she could possibly think this man could have it was he'd taken it, stolen most likely, from a Mizuho native. And that, next to hurting her loved ones, was most defiantly not acceptable.
“Who are you?” She called out right to the stranger, her heart fluttering wildly in her chest, “And why are you following me?”
