City of A Thousand Lights - Lumos
It was getting rather late that evening, deep within the reaches of Suiren's great forests. It was said that within the reaches of nature itself, there lay a city like no other. It had many names because of the view one could obtain when they saw it at night. The City of a Thousand Lights, The Gate of Heaven, The Grounds of Eternal Flames. Many names were bestowed upon it, all fitting of the reasons why. However, if you were to ask the citizens, they'd probably tell you it was no big deal.
However, that's not how it was for Melodie. He'd recently been chosen to perform for their Festival of a Thousand Flames this year, just out of the clear blue. It was somewhat unintended when he thought about it. Earlier on, he was within the kingdom of Kessho, doing his business as usual: seeing the sites, dancing to entertain, getting paid in the process if patrons were feeling generous, and maybe speak with a couple nice guys here and there. However, he'd apparently caught the eye of one of the advisors to the Chief of this town, and was practically begged to take the place of their chosen dancer for this night. Sadly, she had fallen ill with a harsh, but minor disease: the common cold. He had left Lumos immediately in search of someone who was willing to dance for them at such a last minute time. But being the nice boy he was, Melodie gladly accepted.
Now this was Melodie's first time to ever visit Lumos. He was expecting to see the many lights of the fireflies illuminating the area with their own mesmerizing dance when he came to port. What met his eyes, however, was something far greater than he could have imagined. Instead of just the fireflies, he was also greeted with many bright, yet gentle lights adorning the entire city. But it was not just the lights that caught his attention, but the festive atmosphere in the air as well. Many booths were setup, either to give its townsfolk the options of playing certain games, maybe to buy souvenirs or other trinkets, and of course, a wide array of various foods being cooked right on the spot.
It were almost as though the entire city had been transformed into its very own amusement park. He'd heard many things about how great Lumos was as a port city itself. But to see it in such a dazzling display was more than he could have ever hoped to see for himself in a lifetime. "Wooow! Everything's so pretty! And the people seem so excited! Not to mention that the food smells wonderful!", he said with a content smile, and a bit of a wiggle. Within moments, he was soon greeted by the festival's head coordinator, who filled him in on all the details he'd need to know.
"Hmm...I see. Yes, I completely understand why you need my services. I'm more than happy to help. All I need is a run through of the routine, the exact time you wish for me to perform, and any other crucial requirements. Other than that, leave everything to me. Oh! There is one important thing I'd like to ask of you, though.", he said in order to stop the man from leaving before he finished. Raising a finger, he smiled softly with lidded eyes, his tone sweet, innocent, but overall, encouraging and reassuring.
"Please don't give me any special treatment. I may be your guest performer, but I am still a visitor. Treat me as you would anyone else here, that way, we can all enjoy the festival together, okay?" That being said, the coordinator gave him a smile and a humble bow, before giving him a designated time and making his way to the center of the city, where the stage for the performance was set. "Hmm...so I've got about two hours before I need to be ready. I must have gotten here earlier than I expected...oh well! At least I'll get to explore a bit and check out the booths while I'm here! Tehe!"
