WISH UPON A STAR[/size]
Personality:
Lottie is the quintessential example of what a lack of knowledge and guidance can to a person.
To start off, Lottie is an extremely stupid person. No, that is not meant to be an childish insult; she is just not intelligent. Because she never went to school, she is lacking in book and scientific knowledge. She can only read on a second grade reading level, and even then it takes her a while to get through a sentence. She has to audible sound out each letter as she tries to understand a word. Oh, and forget writing. Lottie can print her name, but that's about all she can write. Needless to say, she tries her best to avoid entering a situation when she has to do either of those two things, especially when around another person. Lottie is also extremely lacking in the terms of morals. She had no guidance as a child, and was never taught the difference between right and wrong. Because of that, she usually ends up doing things without realizing the consequences, leading her to hurt people that she really never intended to hurt in the first place.
Lottie also has a huge ego. As such, she thinks she can do anything she can put her mind to. She also will never admit she has done something wrong or that someone else's idea is better than her own. She's as stubborn as a mule, or maybe even more so. She will never listen to a word anyone says, and will often go against a person's commands just to spite them or be difficult. So, even if you have her best interest at heart and try to guide her down the right path, she probably won't listen. She also hates anyone seeing her mess up and gets embarrassed extremely easily. If someone happens to see her fumble, she will get extremely defensive to cover her embarrassment, and might just attack you so you don't have time to make fun of her.
Speaking of battling, Lottie loves a good battle. It's one of the only things she excels in, and as such she puts her whole heart into it. In fact, battling Lottie is one of the only ways for a person to understand what she is truly feeling. Lottie is socially awkward, and has a huge problem conveying her emotions to other people. The only emotions she can really convey are anger, embarrassment, empathy, confidence, and excitement. One will never know when she is upset or hurting, as she will just quickly cover up those emotions with anger. She will never let anyone see her cry, consciously that is. She always acts confident too, and will never let her weak side show through. She has built up a huge wall towards the world, and it's gonna take more than a few kind words to bring it down.
However, behind that wall is an extremely insecure girl. Lottie basically grew up by herself, and was never shown the affection that most people fell growing up. All she saw was that the strong survived, and the weak were eventually picked off. That's why she's built up her strong outer shell. However, if one were somehow ever to get past that, they would find that she is very much still a child on the inside. She doesn't want to purposely hurt anyone, but her ignorance to the world often leads her to do that. But don't be fooled by this. Lottie is still a pretty bad chick, and she'd definitely fit in the villain category at times. She just does everything for her own benefit, and doesn't realize the people she hurts along the way.
One last quirk in Lottie's odd personality; she is an extremely lucky girl. Seriously, she always seems to have good luck get her out of a bad situation. She's the kind of girl who would find two hundred Gald on the ground while walking down the street, or who would trip at the exact moment to avoid being impaled in the back of her head by a flying dagger. She knows she's lucky too, and will often rush into situations without thinking, believing her luck will always bail her out. Luck only goes so far though.
History:
Although luck is something Lottie prides herself on, she definitely wasn't so lucky in the past.
Born to a poor family in the desert village of Sabaku, Lottie never really had the chance for a good life from the start. She was the youngest of two children; her brother, Sawyer, being born six years before her. However, both Lottie and Sawyer had different fathers. Her mother was known for not being able to hang onto a man, and had many other "suitors" besides the two children's fathers. She was flighty and never did care too much about her children. She never did send them to school, and they were moving around the outskirts of the village constantly. Not only did the children have to deal with this turbulent lifestyle and her mother's fierce attitude, they also had to deal with the horrible rumors past around about their mother. Although Lottie was too young to understand most of the words, she knew they weren't complimenting her mother. She grew to despise the people of the desert village. Her mother wasn't exactly her favorite person in the world, but she was still a young girl and it was her mother. She didn't want anyone talking harshly of or hurting her in anyway.
Along with her mother not exactly being the mother hen, her brother Sawyer wasn't the nicest guy around. He was forceful, blunt, and cynical. He never had a nice thing to say to Lottie, or anyone for that matter. He was also extremely dangerous. By the age of eight he was already a better swordsmen than most of the adults in the village. With their mother unemployed and the only money she had was from her various boyfriends, Sawyer often went out and stole from the merchants and vendors in the bazaar. Even when he was caught in the act, most of the vendors were too afraid of him to actually do anything about it, and he got away with his crimes. Sawyer didn't only intimidate the townspeople, however. Even his own mother felt his bullying. She let him get away with everything, too afraid of his intimidation tactics to do otherwise. Lottie was the only one who would argue with him. She was able to see past his scare tactics, and she knew he would not hurt her. This annoyed Sawyer, and he would constantly verbally abuse the girl, but he would never lay a hand on her.
At the age of seven, Lottie's mother went missing. The children never did find out what happened to her. They just came home from another stealing spree at the bazaar and she was gone. Lottie suspects she just got tired of the kids and ran off with another man, that or one of those men finally got tired of her and got rid of her. Either way, Lottie wasn't too devastated. With nowhere else to go, Sawyer, now age 13, decided to leave and start a new life as a nomad. Although he intended to go on his own, Lottie wouldn't just let him go, and followed him as he left. Reluctantly, the teen decided to let his sister come with him.
However, just because Sawyer was letting his sister tag along, it didn't mean he was going to care about her. He provided her with the amount of food she needed to survived, but that was it. There was no sibling bonding, no caring. There was nothing but tense relations. Despite all that, Lottie still loved her brother, and looked up to him as a role model. She always tried to get his attention, and did what she could to help him. However, she usually just ended up getting in his way, causing him to yell at her quite often.
Once Lottie was 14, and Sawyer thought she was old enough to care for herself, he dropped her off in the nearest city, Kessho, and made sure to cover his tracks so she wouldn't be able to follow. Lottie didn't know what she was going to do. Her brother had taught her some battle techniques, but she wasn't sure if she would be able to defend herself if the situation called for it. Frightened by realizing her own weakness, she began focusing on improving her battling techniques. She could often be seen slaying monsters around the city, but she would never wander too far from Kessho. This way of life lasted for many years, and Lottie became significantly stronger, strong enough to protect herself.
Then, just a few months ago, Lottie began hearing stories. Those stories were about an ancient beast, and the six crystals used to seal it away. However, there were rumors that the beast's seal was broken, and it was threatening to wreak havoc on the world again. Just then, Lottie had a thought. If she could collect those six crystals and gain control over that beasts, she would be the most powerful person in the world. No one would be able to harm her, or would look down on her again. Plus, she could make people do whatever she well pleased. And...maybe she could prove to her brother that she just wasn't some useless nuisance. With that last thought, Lottie finally decided on it, and left Kessho on her search for the crystals. Soon, she would be the most powerful women alive!
