when we collide we come together if we don't we'll always be APART
“ C'mon, Genis. You can do this!
The young mage stood alone in the middle of the lifeless wasteland around him, barren land stretching out on any side of him. A shaky hand was clutched tightly onto the kendama as he held the child's toy out in front of him. Letting out a soft breath and closing his eyes, the boy began focusing his attention on the kendama as he began hitting the ball attached to it. With his attention now focused solely on one thing, he switched that focused attention over to that of a spell. A glyph appeared below him, one that shone a brilliant white, as he began to recite the words he had been taught. "Oh countless falling stars, come forth..." Suddenly, the glyph below him flashed as he stopped playing with his kendama and thrust it out in front of him, yelling out. "Meteor Storm!"
Looking immediately towards the sky, Genis strained his eyes to see. The intense sunlight was blinding here. Because of the lack of water and lifeforms, clouds didn't form, leaving no shade from the sun's harsh rays. Grimacing a bit, the boy genius placed a flat hand across his forehead to act as a sort of visor towards the sun. His now shielded eyes soon caught sight of a large shadow hurling towards earth. Now, to anyone else, seeing a monstrous shadow plummeting towards the sky would be a bad thing; but not to Genis. No, this was exactly what he was hoping for. A huge, toothy grin spread across the young boy's face as he watched the shadow get smaller and smaller as it raced towards the earth. ...Wait... Smaller?! Simple physics, no, common sense would tell a person that an object should look bigger as it gets closer. So, why was it getting smaller? Shaking his head, Genis took a step back as the object landed in front of him, or more appropriately, what was left of it. Tentatively, the boy knelt down next to the small hole in the ground and fished out what looked to be just a small piece of rock. The enormous space rock that he had first seen had now disintegrated into this pebble.
Genis sighed. This tiny thing probably couldn't even put a scratch on an enemy. "Stupid spell! Why can't I get you right?!" Scowling, the young mage tossed the small rock out in front of him, watching as it rolled away and blended in with the rest of the rocks of the wasteland. He had been working at this spell for only Martel knows how long, and he still couldn't get it right! He was making progress though, as this was the first time he actually had a piece of the meteor make it to the ground. It still wasn't enough for him though. For a young boy who is so used to having every spell come easy to him, it's hard to cope when one just doesn't want to work for you. And it wasn't like he could just go read about how to do it right in a book either. He was stuck trying to master this himself, something else he wasn't used to doing. You see, Genis was used to having others help him with everything. For most of his life, he had Raine telling him what to do and what not to do. He was never forced to make any decisions for himself. And when it came down to fighting and the like, he was always sure to have Lloyd or Colette there to back him up. He never had to worry about being the strongest. He was just the support character, only there to help the stronger ones. He would never be strong enough to help to protect his friends.
Genis shook his head. Get a hold of yourself, Genis! What was he doing?! He was never the type to start feeling sorry for himself. That was Mithos's job. Mithos... Genis felt a cold chill run through him as he remembered his old frien-errr, enemy. The two were similar in so many ways. They were both half-elves, both were extremely close with their older sisters...both hated humans. But, Genis had something Mithos did not; self-worth and respect for others. Despite his hatred of the discrimination he had to endure, Genis managed to push through and realize that not everyone on this earth was the same, something the closed-minded Mithos could never do. Sometimes, Genis thought that if he had tried just a little bit harder, if he had been a better friend, he could have shown that to Mithos. Things might have been different.
Sighing, the blue-clad mage grabbed the kendama at his side and stood up. Now was not the time to be thinking about that. The past was the past, and there's no use dwelling on things you can't change. Raine taught him that one. Right now, he needed to focus on getting this spell right. That way, when he found a way back to Sylvarant and Tethe'alla, he could show it off to Lloyd and Zelos. And Presea too...oh man, she would be in awe of his amazing spell-casting abilities! "Alright! I can do this!" With his new found confidence, Genis again began his casting ritual, his attention completely focused on his spell-casting. If someone, or something, happened to approach him now, he wouldn't know until it was too late.

What can you see, on the Horizon
------------------------------------------------------ Why do the white gulls call Colette was still lost in this odd world and the only familiar person she had seen was Kratos, but that little visit was short lived since she seemed to carry on with her new adventure. But what was once lush forest had somehow turned into a barren wasteland that now stood before her, how did she even get all the way out here. There was no life and everything was dead. Maybe she should turn back since she had no idea what kind of monsters may be lurking about. But something in her gut told her to stay and just as she was about to not trust that gut feeling, Colette glanced up towards the sky. There seemed to be something falling and then it just seemed to vanish, wait! Was that a spell someone was trying to cast. She knew of quite a few people who could cast spells like that, Genis and Raine. Unless it was just the sun's heat messing with her mind and she was seeing things. Shielding her eyes from the rays the blonde quickly rushed her way across the dry and cracked land, if someone was casting spells they were nearby. The was so immense out here that she had to keep stopping every few minutes, also to catch her breath. "I'm coming....I....it's so hot". Maybe she should find some shade to take a rest and get out of this sun. Uh but where could she possibly find anywhere in this barren wasteland that has shade, where she was standing right now the nearest place she could see where she could find shade was such a long distance away. Shaking her head Colette knew she had to press on, someone was casting spells in this place and if she could find out who it was they would probably would be able to help her. With a determined look on her face she set out in the direction she saw the spell but stopped hearing something behind her, freezing on the spot she very slowly turned and came face to face with a monster. A rather ugly one at that too. Making her chakrams appear Colette quickly jumped back and quickly did an attack. " Pow Hammer! Pow Hammer! Pow Hammer! Pow Hammer!" The little red hammer appeared and kept bonking the monster on the head, but it did no damage. Well so much for that huh, and now the monster seemed quite upset. The heat from the sun wasn't helping her much so that she could focus on a more better attack, so doing the only thing she could think of the blonde broke into a run. "Get away, get away.....GET AWAY". Not even seeing where she was running, Colette suddenly tripped over a rock and fell forward. With a small "eek" she fell to the ground with a hard thud, older and much more mature sure but still a klutz through and through. By now she was out of breath from all that running and felt so exhausted, no wonder that nothing could survive here....unless you were a monster that was used to the heat. Turning her head she saw the monster running at her, quickly glancing around her eyes fell on a familiar shade of clothing and the boy who wore them. "GENIS!". If this was a mirage or an illusion she didn't want to shake it away, turning back to the monster she stumbled to get up just as it brought it's weapon down.[/blockquote]

when we collide we come together if we don't we'll always be APART
“ Genis was feeling really good about his spell this time. That burst of confidence seemed to boost his magic as well. He could just feel power pulsating through him as he began chanting those oh-so familiar words, a shadow beginning to form in the sky as a few meteors began to form. "Oh countless falling stars, come-" "GENIS!" "...come Genis...wait, what?" The boy's focus was broken, causing the rocks that had been forming to disappear in a spark of fire. The first thing that came into Genis's mind was not anger over who had interrupted his spell when it was going so well; no, he was too smart for that. What he was concerned about who managed to sneak up on him, and why this person knew his name. He was too focused on his spell to be able to hear the voice clearly, so he couldn't tell at first if it was someone he knew. Quickly whipping his head around, Genis audibly gasped as he spotted a familiar shade of blonde.
"Colette?!" Genis was too shocked at first to say anything. What was she doing in a place like this? No...what was she doing in this world to begin with?! Genis thought he was the only one who got thrown into this strange world. However, the former Chosen slumped on the ground in front of him proved him otherwise. But, besides that, what was she doing in a delosate place like this? This place depifnately wasn't her style. Genis could see in her in a place more "rainbow-y" and...filled with butterflies or something. She must have gotten herself lost. However, the young mage wasn't allowed to entertain his thoughts for long, as his light cyan eyes caught sight of a rather ugly looking creature. It wasn't a monster he had seen before, but it sure looked nasty. Colette must have made it angry some how, he deduced, as he noticed it going in to strike her. Guess it was time for him to prove to Colette (and himself), how strong he had really become.
"Colette, watch out!" Genis called out his warning as he began dashing towards the blonde damsal. He could feel his adrenaline begin to kick in as he made his way over to his old friend, standing over her as he made himself a wall between Colette and the monster. Using a technique taught to him back when he was still on the "Journey of Regeneration" in Sylvarant, the boy forcefully pushed the energy out of his body, causing a blueish-green, translucent wall to radiate from him. Within a few milliseconds, the force field had enveloped both himself and Colette. As the monster's brought it's weapon down, it's attack was blocked by the energy field, causing it to reel back in surprise. Immediately dropping the barrier, Genis followed up with a quick slap to the face from the ball attached to his kendama. Lucky for the duo, this monster didn't seem to smart, as it jumped back and remained dazed by the failed attack long enough for Genis to get a few words into Colette.
"Colette! Are you okay? What are you doing here?! Ah, nevermind that!" Genis shook his head. "Do you think you could cover me for a few seconds while I prepare a spell?" That wasn't so much of a question as it was a statement. Genis wouldn't be able to get a decent spell in without some help. The monster, while stupid, seemed to be quick and would be able to hit the mage with an attack before he could conjure up a spell. Taking a step to the side of the blonde, boy genius immediately began casting a spell, a icy blue glyph beginning to form underneath him.

What can you see, on the Horizon
------------------------------------------------------ Why do the white gulls call This was not the type of climate Colette was used to, how come she even decided to just wander into this wasteland. Oh right her sense of direction seemed to lead her into the most unusual places it seemed. It was so hot here and the fact she was wearing so many layers wasn't helping the situation at hand either, and what's worse is that a monster was chasing her now. She was going to turn back and head in the direction of forest once more but it had been that meteor in the sky that caught her attention. Colette also knew it was someone casting a spell and just had to find out who it was. So here she was now running for her life after casting pow hammer on this monster which of course had no effect, and on top of that she tripped over a rock and fell to the ground with a eek and thud. She knew the monster was right behind her, looking behind her she was right. It was running right at her but she felt so exhausted. It was then Colette noticed some familiar clothing out of the corner of her eye and the spell that was being said. She quickly called out the boy's name knowing she was interuppting his spell but this was serious. Hearing his warning she quickly turned back to see the monster about to strike her, eyes going wide she then quickly closed them. She half expected to be hit but felt nothing and slowly opened her eyes to look up at Genis. Shifting her eyes over to the monster she saw it's weapon bounce off the field and push back the monster in a state of confusion or rather dazed. Looking back up at Genis she quickly stood up and nodded lightly, brushing her clothes off before hugging the mage. Colette had missed him and was so happy to see he was alright, this meant he was the second person who she knew that was in this odd world. "I'll be okay Genis, i'm just so happy to see you." Colette let the white haired mage go and stepped back. "Of course, i'll help you in anyway Genis" She instantly made her chakrams appear stepping around Genis and moved a little ways from him, throwing one of the chakrams at the monster she diverted it's attention to her and only her so that Genis could do his spell. Colette kept on throwing her chakrams at the monster to keep his attention away from Genis, it was working too. The monster took swings at her with it's weapon as she jumped back then moved from side to side. "Come on Genis I can't keep this up for much longer". She was starting to get tired again from the heat of this place and would soon collapse. [/blockquote]

when we collide we come together if we don't we'll always be APART
“ Despite his wish to return Colette's hug and ask her all sorts of questions about how she got here and where she had been so far, Genis was forced to concetrate on his spell casting. If this monster killed them here, then he would never be able to ask her those questions. Heck, he wouldn't be able to do anything anymore. So, right now, he needed to focus on casting this spell as quickly as possible. Closing his eyes, the young mage continued to play with his kendama, muttering some unimportant words under his breath. They weren't really necessary to this spell, but it helped him focus on the spell even more. After a few more seconds of preperation, the cyan blue glyph under Genis began to flash, a sign that the spell was near ready to be casted.
"Come on, Genis, I can't keep this up for much longer!"
"I'm coming, Colette!" Genis managed to call out as he opened his eyes. For the first time since he began his spell casting, the boy spotted the monster. Colette had done a good job at drawing it's attention away from him while he was casting. Smirking, boy genius stopped playing with his kendama and thrust it into the air. "Chill out! ICE TORNADO!" The blue glyph underneath him flashed brilliantly as he spoke. Suddenly, a cold chill cut through the air, making the young mage breath out a cloud of steam. In the span of a second, that cold air began to coil and writhe, focusing itself around the confused monster. In a display of vicious beauty, ice began to form in the air and spin at mach speeds around the target. The monster was sucked off the ground and spun around in the tornado, causing not only disorientation from the spinning, but also causing abrasions from the sharp ice crystals.
After a few seconds of being whipped around, the tornado began to slow and fade, tossing the monster off the side as it disappeared into thin air. The monster was still at first, and for a short while Genis believed he had killed him with just that one shot. However, in a few heartbeats the monster stirred, shakily getting to its feet. Despite still being able to stand, it was obvious to the young mage that he had caused a fair amount of damage to it. Hurt and confused, the monster clearly didn't want anything else to do with these two young fighters, and stummbled off into the wasteland. Upon seeing this, Genis couldn't help but feel a wave of confidence wash over him, and a huge grin formed on his face. Heh! Guess I am strong enough to protect people! Scratching under his nose, the victorious mage turned to his friend, obviously pleased with himself.
"See that? I still got it, huh Colette?" Modesty wasn't exactly a word in Genis's vocabulary. He was still a kid, afterall, and wanted to be praised when he did something well. Letting out a small giggle, boy genius then turned his attention away from the victory and towards his old friend. Quickly running over to her, he stopped just in front of the former chosen. His expression was a understandable mix of curiosity and worry. On one hand, he was interested in knowing all about when ad how Colette got here, and what she had seen since getting here. On the other hand, they had just gotten through a rough battle, and Colette looked a bit ill, probably because of the heat. Shaking his head, Genis let loose his first briage of questions.
"Are you okay? And just what are you doing out here?! This isn't the sort of place to be just playing around in, you know!" Genis put a hand on his hip and stuck his finger up in his typical "know-it-all" way. Despite being worried about Colette, he was still a snarky little brat, and was inclined to act as such. Deep down though, he was extremely worried about Colette, and if she knew him as well as he thought she did, she would be able to see that.

What can you see, on the Horizon
------------------------------------------------------ Why do the white gulls call Colette wanted to ask Genis alot of questions, so many she would probably hurt the poor mage's head with everything. But it had been so long since she last saw Genis and wanted to know what he had been up to and what he has been doing since the last time they crossed paths with each other. But that would have to wait until after they were done with this creature, and until they could find some decent shade to sit in. The heat in this place was so unbearable for her she felt like she was going to pass out any second. She quickly mentioned she couldn't keep up with this creature anymore, this dance they were doing was becoming tiresome for her and his attacks were getting closer and closer to hitting her since she was beginning to slow down. But no sooner did she think she was going to pass out on the ground, Colette felt a cold chill and watched the monster picked up into the whirlwind of ice. The cold air felt so nice then it stopped as the creature dropped on the ground. She could feel her heart still racing a little, staring at the creature on the ground. Was it dead? Did Genis kill it? No it was still stirring and she gripped her chakrams tightly in her hands. However the creature just gave them both a look as if not interested in fighting anymore and walked back off into the wasteland, the angel let out a sigh of relief and was happy that was over. Her weapons disappeared and smiled over at Genis. "You sure do Genis, I never doubted your skills ever". He was a great mage and his magic was strong, Colette had seen that in many many battles with her friend. Now that the battle was over and done with they could probably leave and find a nearby town, the first thing she would probably do is dump cold water on herself. Or even if they could find a lake that would be wonderful as well. Did they even have a lake somewhere in this world.....they would right. Colette glanced down to Genis as he ran over to her, she gave a weak blink and looked at the expression on his face. She tryed to keep a smile on her face to make him not worry so much about her. When he asked his questions her smile vanished and was replaced by a frown. "I'm just a little tired. I came out here because I saw magic being casted and was curious as to who was casting it. I never thought it would be you Genis". Colette just shook her head at the young mage, to her Genis was never going to change. She knew him too well and pulled him into a light hug. " I've been so worried about you all, I just wanted to find everyone I care for...". Her voice held a weak and tired tone to it. She needed to get out of this barren wasteland and to somewhere cool and cold.[/blockquote]
